Thrown into the centre of Congo for eighteen months at the wise old age of 22, I had a hard job explaining my new world to the family and friends I had left behind.   So, I began to try and describe it to them, and have done so ever since.

I have been lucky to travel, live and work in over 40 countries.  I try not to view these places with rose-tinted glasses, nor to be mesmerised by disaster – just to observe, to listen, to work hard, and to share stories in a hope for greater understanding.  My writing has grown up only as much as me – so I ask you to forgive any mistaken judgements – and hope that my tales bring you some interest and enjoyment.
